THE GUY FROM P. R. R. (It's me!)
WON THE PRIZE FROM P. P. R.
"The Guy from PRR (it’s me!) won the prize from PPR"… This was the announcement that Ongerung Kambes Kesolei uttered when I won the Gift Certificate of a Sunday Brunch for 2 at the Coconut Terrace of Palau Pacific Resort during the raffle draw of COALITION FOR A TOBACCO FREE PALAU in the 21st Anniversary of World No Tobacco Day Walk/Run on President's Day June 01, 2018 at Ernguul Park that started at 5:30am.
Some 301 participants took part with free t-shirts provided to the finishers of the 5k or 10k race. I took part in the 5k race. When I registered, Stacey, the mother of my chess/piano student Gray, assisted me. She is also the one that gave me the free t-shirt given to all participants who finished the race.
Some chess players also participated like Rustum Cabuso, Mohammad Manik Hossain, WHO IS ON A MAJOR FASTING (without anything even water) and Gonzalo Escapatoria. Rustum asked for practice on Sun. June 3 from 2 pm. Nelson Sisior, my piano student Lanie Kinsiano and her family were also in attendance. Bruce Soriano, the father of my guitar student Kyle, also took part but didn't attend the raffle draw because he has to work. More than 10 co-employees at Palau Royal Resort also took part with Mylz Esmeralda Toboso, Gracie Alenain, Lea Degollado Asuncion, Maricel Veluz, Christine, Hanika Alday, Gerry Medrano, Vergel Isip, Jeff, Joy Malubay, Bong Lagunte, Dionnie, Ato, Felix, etc. I took some photos of the path of the race. I finished the 5k in 48 min. and 48 sec.
While Kambes is announcing the winners of the raffle draw, I am eating orange provided by the organizers. My co-employees have to go back to PRR for work and they leave me their tickets. I positioned those tickets so that I can look at those easily with Rolly Jardenaso, a former co-employee at Dragon Tei, Teppan Dragon and Donburi Dragon, beside me.
Segundo Doddie Pineda also won a prize ($10 Airtime, $25.00 GC from Payless Market, $50.00 from The Taj, $21.00 from a beauty shop, from Palasia Hotel, $25.00 gas vouchers from AA Gas Station were given away). When the last prize (PPR Brunch for 2) was announced, I already ate 4 oranges! The number is 459681. When I look at my numbers, it's there and I run to the stage to claim my prize. My wife Flor Miranda-Hernandez will be happy having lunch again there. We had lunch there twice in 2009 and 2012 using the prize I won for finishing in the Top 4 of the Palau National Chess Championship… http://palau-chess.blogspot.com/2012/08/enjoying-my-chess-prize-with-wife-photos.html
In the 2011 Palau Invitational International Chess Championship held at the Conference Room of Palau Royal Resort, Cyril Tomas Montel, Jr., who works at Palau Pacific Resort (PPR), won the 3rd prize of Gift Certificate of dinner for 2 at Waves Restaurant of PRR, while Paquito Suringa Jr., who works at PRR, won the 5th prize of Brunch for 2 at PPR!
Are you confused?
In the 2012 Palau National Chess Championship, me, who works as musician at PRR, won 2nd place of Brunch for 2 at PPR!
The venue of the 43rd World Chess Olympiad is the Sport Palace, situated on the center of Batumi. It has been built in 2018 and the first event to be held there will be the Batumi Chess Olympiad. The Sport Palace is a very spacious modern complex.
Transportation to the Sport Palace from the relevant hotels will be provided by the organizers. Transportation schedule will be available at the information desks located at each hotel as well as at the official website of the Olympiad.
Please note that the players are requested to be at the venue at least 30 minutes, before the start of the round, to proceed to the security checks. Furthermore, the participants are not allowed to bring non-authorized devices (electronic devices, watches, pens) with them.
In the 2010 World Chess Olympiad in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia, the Twin Olympic Hotel was built also in the same year (2010) and the first event that took place there was that Olympiad. I, Tito Cabunagan, Jamie Kenmure and Jan Olav-Berglund, together with the more than 3,000 participants, were the first occupants of that Twin Olympic Hotel.
