(1645) MUSIC AND ME (Oct. 18, 2018) GENEROUS ANGAUR DELEGATE MARIO GULIBERT

A FRIEND SINCE MARCH 25, 2001
I have known Angaur Delegate Mario Gulibert since the grand opening of Airai View Hotel in March 25, 2001. I still remember that night in Aug. 2005 at Rose Garden Resort where I played keyboard music every night, that 5 high ranking Palau officials gave me drinks (1 beer from him, 3 beers from Delegate Flavian Carlos, 1 beer from Delegate Lucio Ngiraiwet, 1 beer from Senator Alfonso Diaz, and $10.00 from Palau President Tommy Remengesau, Jr.).

Prior to playing instrumental music, Roberto Hernandez was given by Airai View Hotel staff a program. He plays "The Greatest Love of All" as the first song while waiting for guests to come.

Former President (2008-2012) Johnson Toribiong, whose grandson Ethan Nate Meyar I taught chess and piano in 2011-2012.

Ngirai Tmechtul--I will start teaching his daughter Yars piano in January 31, 2018 from 3-4pm and later I will proceed to teach 1 hour piano, 1 hour chess to Nick Nehez from 4-6pm. They live just a few dozen meters from each other's house in Airai, near US Embassy.

The 2nd song that I played is "Song For Anna".

I have experienced the generosity of Delegate Mario Gulibert in Feb. 23, 2018. After attending the Sunday Service of Pentecostal Missionary Church of Christ (4th Watch) Palau Locale, I stopped by at PRA Gas Station for gas worth $10.00. The Palauan guy gas attendant had pumped already $10.00 worth of gas and as usual I go to the cashier to pay.

Delegate Mario Gulibert is there paying for his gas using his Visa card (Bank of Hawaii). I waited while he is teasing the lady cashier for slow service because he spent a lot for gas and other items.

When he saw me standing there ready to pay, he said to the gas attendant to put 6 more gallons to my car and he will pay it including the $10.00 that was pumped already.

Rhea Malonzo, the cashier and a fellow elected officer at The Filipino Community in Palau (TFCP), said, "It's okay, Kuya (older brother), he will pay for everything."

Before going back to Palau Royal Resort, the gas attendant said, "You're very lucky!" The amount of those that was given to me by Delegate Mario Gulibert is more or less $40.00.

While attending a function at PRR a few years ago, he asked me to teach his teen-age boy piano but it didn't materialize yet.
