   While on our way to go back to Manila via Istanbul, I just discover that the Finance Batumichess has sent me an email on Sept. 23, 2018 3:35 am that states:
"World Chess Olympiad Batumi 2018 Georgia-Palau
     On behalf of 43rd World Chess Olympiad Organizing Committee we ask you to have cash upon arrival to Batumi, in order to make payment of Registration, Accommodation and Transfer fees."
     I showed it to Eric and Joy and I said to Joy, "It's good you brought cash." Eric said they didn't send it to his email address. It enables us to play the 1st round and got our gifts from the organizers including a bottle of Georgian white wine.

  ROUND 5 OF 2018 WORLD CHESS
                  OLYMPIAD--
           Bobot Scores First Win,
            Palau Women's Team
                 Swept Gambia

Palau is up against a tough Togo Open team with Palau Board 1 Cyril Tomas Montel, Jr. (1882 rating)vs. Mawulikplimi Ephoevi-Ga Adama (1848); Bobot Tan (1823) vs. Komlan Kouessan Amewounou (1758);
Angelo Salvadora (1772) vs. Koffi Botsoe (1680) and Rustum Cabuso (1730) vs. Sopague Kolani Banake (1635).

Although Palau's ratings is a little bit higher than Togo, it's is bloated as they've got it at local tournaments while the Togo team had it in international competitions.

Only Bobot squeezed out a win to avert a shutout while in the women's team encounter vs. Gambia, they swept the African nation, whose Open team in the 2016 Baku, Azerbaijan was the first team that Palau Open team has defeated.

All of the Gambia's women players had no ratings. Joan Gemota (1346) demolished the very young Fatou Jabbie in just 4 moves! It's is the shortest game of the Olympiad. Togo put their weakest player at Board 1 who doesn't have an idea about mate in 4 moves while at Board 2, Baby Edna Mission aka Bheng (1475) upended Hula Jallow. Another Jallow (Serray) was beaten by Angelil Sisior (1476) and her mom Angelica Parrado (1559) clobbered Mariama Krubally. Angelica Morales Magno had a rest.

The Palau Women's Team Match Arbiter is International Arbiter (IA) Alex Roose of Curacao/Netherlands Antilles.
