It was a dramatic Sunday for the group, despite the heavy downpour. It doesn't hinder the planned election of new sets of officers that will lead the present and future activities of the Knights And Rooks Chess Club.

Bong Alipoon acted as the spoke person of the group who wanted a change of leadership, introduced the plan to the current Chairman Roberto Hernandez in which he easily accepted.

The purpose of the election is linked to the growing membership of the club each year, and it is impossible for a one-man leader to run the show effectively.

It is also necessary to have a financial records that will be transparent to all members.

Revenues coming in and monies expended for a common purpose must be properly documented.

The sets of officers shall be given his/her own responsibilities for the benefit of the many.

Sets of officers to be selected upon are as follows:
Chairman, Secretary/Treasurer, Auditor, Public Relations Officer, and the deciding body better known as the Board.

The elections of all officers came too quickly as the method was done verbally but with high regards.

As expected and based on original plan, Mr. Hernandez was maintained as Chairman.

The absence and inactivity of the former Secretary/Treasurer Danny Dandoy gave way to the selection of Gene Pastrana as the new Sec./Treasurer.

A moment later, Jess Toldoya was selected as the Auditor. New member Flavin Andres was overwhelmingly selected as the new Public Relations Officer. He finally accepted his new role after a little hesitation.

All 5 macho men of the club were selected as the deciding body/Board namely: Mr. Bong Alipoon, Mr. Jimmy Valenzuela, Mr. Cyril Montel, Jr., Mr. Menandro Manuel and the current champion Mr. Jose Omega. The Board will select their own leader.

After the election of officers, the group decided to have a blitz games. Registration fee is $5.00 for each participants, 5 minutes for each player to finish his game and a single round-robin format was used.

A total of 8 players joined the fastest competition. $40.00 was at stake but $20.00 goes for the group's drinks and the other half will go to the winner.

The game was a combination of drinking while playing and it was a lot of fun.

Eventually, Mr. Manny Nedic emerged as the champion.
The Chairman gave Nedic his winning prize of $20.00.

Had Bong and Gene didn't decide to draw their game, maybe Bong would have emerge as the winner.

After signing off, the group decided to have another meeting. The day and date will be announced this Sunday, November 20, 2005.
