IN HIS letter to Raymond Lapitan about JETS (Junior Elite Training Squad), Papua New Guinea's top chess player Joselito Marcos stated:

"I would like to take this opportunity to inform you that I decided to join the PNG chess team to the 2010 Khanty-Mansiysk Chess Olympiad.
So far we don't have a complete line-up with me, Shaun Press and Rupert Jones making the commitment. Brian Jones applied as and would like to be the team captain. I am the only member who is a PNG resident.
I would either play the top or second board, which doesn't concern me much. I may play on a lower board and shoot for the FIDE Master (FM) title like what Rupert did two Olympiads ago (but that is not a motivation for me. I am determined to lead the PNG team to better results).
Professionally-wise, I am similarly blessed having promoted to Deputy Director Academic position of the National Polytechnic Institute of PNG (former Lae Technical College). I am among the team of 5 who visited polytechnics institutes of technologies in New Zealand in August 2008 in preparation for the conversion from technical college to a polytechnic of then Laetech.
If there is anything I could be of help with Daniel's chess progress, please let me know. You are certain I have no reservation when it comes to that.
Regards, Lito."
