(431) $100.00 DONATION FROM ETI

IN THE first round of the 2006 Palau National Chess championship, Edwin Eti led most of the way until his job responsibility as security officer of the new Capitol Building in Melekeok stopped him from completing the tourney.

He informed the tournament chairman (Roberto Hernandez), that he can not finish his last 9 remaining games.

But he is generous enough to donate $100.0 as cash prize for the next rapid chess tournament in September 2006.

He will also participate but only through telephone matches.

There have been only 2 telephone matches held in Palau.

The first one was between Jose Omega and Amante Caballero in 2003 and Mario Ramos against Ivan II Chess Computer in 2004 that lasted more than 60 moves in 3 hours.

Eti will now have 7-12-3 final win-loss-draw record as he lost by default to Omega, Cyril Montel, Jr.(2 games), Gene Pastrana, Morton Sawaichi, Dennis Gonzales, Jess Toldoya and Francis 'Sno' Temaungil (2 games).

THE FOLLOWING IS THE SCHEDULED GAMES IN THE RESUMPTION OF PNCC. PLAYERS WILL LOSE BY DEFAULT IF THEY WILL NOT SHOW UP OR DIDN'T INFORM THE ORGANIZERS ABOUT HIS ABSENCE:

1. Omega vs. Toldoya
2. Montel, Jr. vs. Toldoya
3. Sawaichi vs. Omega, Manny Nedic and Pastrana
