(575) DEEPER ANALYSIS (TBN-June 06-12, 2008)



IN THE resumption of their adjourned game last Sunday, June 01 (President's Day), Palau's number 3 chess player Cyril Montel, Jr. proved to have a deeper analysis of his adjourned game against No. 4 Roberto Hernandez and prevailed 7 moves later and edged out Hernandez with 5-2-1 win-loss-draw slate.

In a sepcial game held at Palau Royal Resort Dormitory 1, number 2 Jose Omega emerged victoriuos over Paquito 'Pax' Suringa in 41 moves of Center Counter. Pax suffered 2 more setbacks against co-employees Dennis Lara in 61 moves of French Defence and Elizalde Madrinan and finally he is in the win column with a victory over another co-worker Arnel Pama, who suffered his 5th consecutive losses.

In the only game on Saturday, Palau's first National Master Manny Nedic remains the only player with the least loss (one) after clobbering the lone Bangladeshi entrant Mohammad Manik Hossain and now totes a 7-1-0 card.

Koror State Legal Counsel Craig Dittrich notched his 8th points out of 13 games with a win over the struggling Madrinan, who is undergoing intense practice to regain his top form.

Dittrich will have a longer vacation and he wants to play the two players from PRR that he hadn't played yet--Pama and Pax, who is available on his day off (Saturday).

Em-R de Vera, the junior rapid champion of 2005 Rapid chess tournament, has showed up and will join the field of 22 players in the ongoing 2008 Palau National Chess Championship while Mario Ramos, inactive for 4 years,showed interest to join but his schedule prevented him from participating.
