               FORMAT -- 2003 SENIOR AND JUNIOR 
                          CHESS TOURNAMENT

1. It will be a 13-round Swiss System in the Senior Division and double round-
    robin in the Junior Division.

2. The time control in the Senior Division is 2 hours for each player to make 40
    moves and an additional 1 hour each to make 20 moves. In case of adjourned
   games, it will be played an hour earlier on the next Sunday or any other day 
   that the involved players have agreed.
    The Junior Division’s time control is 30 minutes each to finish the game.

3. Ivan II Chess Computer will participate in both divisions with its strength in
    H for Hard, in the Senior Division and E for Easy in the Junior Division.
    The players can use the tournament size chessboard if he/she finds that the
     8” size of Ivan II is too small for him/her.

4. Writing chess notations is mandatory in either English or Algebraic notations.
     Mechanical chess clocks will be provided except when playing Ivan II. Score
     sheets will be provided but players are requested to bring their own pens.

5. Registration fee is $10.00 with the amount collected to be paid for buying
    Ivan II Chess Computer, which can be rented by players for $5.00 a week.

6. There will be no cash prizes but the 8 trophies will be provided by Nilo de
     Jesus, the venue host, for the top 4 finishers in each division.

7. Touch move rules will be applied. Players are advised to used their mind to
     analyze their games and not their hands or fingers.

8. Special games can be arranged especially to those players that are having
    their day offs on Saturdays. Playing Ivan II on weekdays can also be
    arranged.

9. All games must be played at the venue—C & N Refrigeration and Air
    Conditioning Services premises from 1:00-5:00 pm.

10. This tournament will be rated nationally for senior players for chance to
     improve their ratings according to their performances.
