                          PROPOSED 2015
               PALAU CHESS FEDERATION
                   CALENDAR OF EVENTS

PALAU top chess players Roberto Hernandez, Tito Cabunagan, Cyril Montel, Jr., Jeff Balbalosa, CM Bernard Garcia, Eugene Labarda and Manuel ‘Jun’ Mahor, Jr. held a meeting at Bethlehem Park on Sunday, April 12, 2015 to talk about the next chess tournaments for the year 2015.
First in line was the 2015 Palau Blitz Chess Championship which was agreed to be held within 2 weeks instead of a one-day blitz chess tourney. The agreed date is a week after the Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao mega boxing bout—May 10 (Sunday) and May 17 (Sunday).

It will be a 9-round Swiss system with a time control of 5 minutes for each player to finish the game with 3 seconds increment. All participating players need to play 5 rounds on May 10 and 4 rounds of May 17 after which the prizes (trophies and cash) will be given after the completion of 9 rounds.
There will be cash prizes and trophies for the top 5 finishers--$150.00 to the champion; $125.00 to the 2nd placer; $100.00 to the 3rd placer; $75.00 for 4th placer and $50.00 to the 5th placer. There will be consolation prize of $20.00 each for the 6th to 10th placers.  As per meeting on April 26, 2015 at 3pm, there will be a cash prize of $50.00 each for best women finisher and junior best placer.
The FIDE Laws of Chess (Blitz) will be followed including the touch move rule. If a player committed an illegal move, he must not make a move and call the attention of Arbiters (Hernandez, Garcia and Dennis Gonzales). The game ends after a player made an illegal move.
If Hernandez, Garcia and Gonzales are playing during a complaint, Hernandez, being the Chief Arbiter, will stop his clock to attend to the complaining player and resume his game after the dispute is settled. Jeff will be participating and will be doing the pairings by using the Swiss Perfect software.
According to new rule of FIDE, all contestants must provide their email addresses to Palau Rating Officer Jamie Kenmure of Australia, who is coming to Palau for 3 weeks this year.
