PLAYOFFS AT 2012 PNCC


THERE will be a possible playoff of the top 4 players who played more games. The innovative ideas are being initiated to thwart some irregularities and laziness of some players to play their regular games within 8 weeks of 2012 Palau National Chess Championship.

The following is the result of extensive review on how the top 4 finishers have been ranked – 1. CM Bernardo Garcia 2. Roberto Hernandez 3. Menandro Manuel and 4. Cyril Tomas Montel, Jr.:

· As per Fide rules http://arbitri.lombardiascacchi.com/handbook/handbook.asp-level=C0605.htmall unplayed games should be written in timetable and player who didn’t show will get – and player who showed will get +.

· Below is the ranking after considering the unplayed games

· Menandro will be 3rd slot because of 7 points score

· Paquito and Tito’s last game is not valid due to no arbiter present and not in proper game venue.

· Cyril will be 4th because he have 6 points and more games compare to Jose which have more unplayed games. We need to favor Cyril on this scenario to promote better rate of play for players. Player should always try to play more games to get an advantage and no show will have negative impact to player score.
