PALAU IN MENTIONED 13X IN
HERNANDEZ' CARD

Maybe it’s the only one of its kind in this world. Where can you find a business card where the country where the owner is living is mentioned 13 times? ONLY IN PALAU!

Roberto A. Hernandez is provided with free 3 boxes of business cards in his every request at Palau Royal Resort. It’s only one-sided but Hernandez’ innovative idea, that started in 2008 during his Japanese language class, where the teacher, Ms. Sanny Matsui has given each student a card bearing their names written in Japanese Katakana alphabet.

It is written downward as: ROBERTO HERNANDEZ

Restaurant (Waves) Pianist

Palau Royal Resort

Tel. 680-488-2000 Fax: 680-488-6688
This is where the artistic creativity of Hernandez has started. He pasted on the right bottom vacant space the logo of Palau Royal Resort and his I.D. picture on the upper left part of the initial ‘business card’.

Not satisfied with it, he added another black and white on the back part of card (vertical this time) additional entries such as: Logo palau royal resort

nikko hotels international

ROBERT HERNANDEZ

Musician, Palau Royal Resort

Chairman, Knights and Rooks Chess Club (Palau)

Secretary/Treasurer, Palau Chess Federation

Chess Columnist, Tia Belau Newspaper

Hernandez has given it once to a Taiwanese lady, where she said, “I can’t read Japanese. How will I know what are written here?” He showed her the back part and she said,“Oh, nice!”

The 2ndevolution of Hernandez’ card needs more patience. He used a sharp scissor to cut one by one every Japanese letter and arranged it vertically and added a black and white picture (photo copy) from an old Tia Belau Chess Mate column’s picture in 2004.

The middle is colored logo of PRR and some more information written horizontally on the right side as: Tel. +680-488-2000 Fax: +680-488-6688 Reservation Hot Line +680-488-8877 P. O. Box 1018 Koror, Palau 96940

That is the card that was given to Paul (Bear) Kenny of the Royal Australian Navy when he’s applying for Australian visa in 2009. And before going to Australia to represent Palau in the 2009 Oceania Zonal Chess Championship, Hernandez ordered a real business card of his own from then General Manager Isao Takahashi but it didn’t arrive in time for OZCC so Pamela Albania photocopied about 20 pages of this card in blue ordinary paper and now it’s arrange as this: Logo palau royal resort nikko hotels international

Roberto A. Hernandez, Musician Tel. +680-488-2000 Fax: +680-488-6688

Reservation Hot Line: +680-488-8877 P. O. BOX 10108 Koror, Palau 96940

At the back of the blue card, Hernandez pasted the 2nd evolution card (in English). Those are the cards that he’d given away to new friends and chess players he met in Australia together with the brochures of PRR.

The 3rdevolution has started with the arrival of 200 cards. At the back of it, Hernandez combined the Japanese and English version with colored photo at the left upper part and the PRR logo at the right bottom part.

Then, the email address of Hernandez was hacked and he changed it with robert_flor31154@yahoo.com

He made many copies of it and pasted those on top of the old email address.

After coming back from Russia to represent Palau in the 2010 World Chess Olympiad, more additions occurs such as Russian name of Roberto, logo of PRR in Japanese, logo of Palau Chess Federation and logo of Pentecostal Missionary Church of Christ 4th Watch on the top part of the card.

Also added after Musician are Private Tutor, Piano, Keyboard, Guitar, Chess and President, Pentecostal Missionary Church of Christ 4th Watch (Palau Locale) 2008-2010.

The Japanese characters were reduced in size to accommodate additional information and finally, the website of PCF http://palau-chess.blogspot.com and email palau.chess@gmail.com were put under the Secretary/Treasurer, Palau Chess Federation part. Plus, the Chess and Music Columnist, Tia Belau Newspaper was added as Hernandez started writing about music since March 15, 2012.

So Palau is mentioned 10 times at the back part of the card and 3 times at the front and it has now 2 colored photos of Roberto in both sides.

Before the start of his games in Istanbul, Roberto will give his opponent this card, brochure of PRR and dugong keychain with Palau written on it. Other team members (Bernard, Menandro, Jamie and Elizabeth might do the same if they can get those items in time before going to Istanbul, Turkey 2012 World Chess Olympiad.
