She became hooked to chess and no more guitar and currently 90 minutes of chess on Tue. and Wed. Continued teaching chess until Ultei joined the 2014 Palau National Chess Championship (Junior Division) and finished 3rd with $50.00 cash prize and a trophy.

>Founded the Knights and Rooks Chess Club (Palau) on the opening day of that
tournament and was elected Chairman.
>Organized the 3 major chess tournaments in 2003—the 2003 Open in Jan. 12- April
27, 2003; the 2003 Age Group from May 25-Aug. 24, 2003 and the senior and
Junior Chess Tourney from Sept. 21—Dec. 14, 2003, winning the last one.
>Organized another 3 major chess tournaments in 2004—the 2004 Non-Master from
Jan. 11—April 11, 2004, the 2004 Open from July 11—Oct. 03, 2004 and the 2004
Rapid Chess from Oct. 24—Dec. 19, 2004. Also organized numerous blitz chess
Tourneys including the Invitational Blitz Chess in Aug. 01, 2004 won by Italian
Andrea Buriani, a tourist.

Campomanes in his visit to Palau from May 11-14, 2006. Organized an 8-player
blitz chess tournament with him as the top seed on the night of his departure.
>Organized the inaugural Ambassador Marino Rapid Chess Tournament in June 25,
July 02 and July 09, 2006. Finished tied for 1st place in the rated division.
>Organized the inaugural 2006 Palau Invitational Chess Championship with Gary
Bekker, Oceania Zone President, from Aug. 31—Sept. 04, 2006. Two players from
New Zealand, one from the Philippines and one from Australia were invited to have
Palau top 6 chess players gained their international rankings.
>Organized the 2007 Rated and Unrated Chess Tournament from Jan. 28—May 05
and the 2007 National Chess Championship--winning my first NCC title tied with 2 others.
>Organized the 2nd PICC (now known as The Ambassador Marino Cup) from Sept.
15—21, 2007. Two players from Philippines were invited.
>Organized the 2007 Palau Royal Resort Rating Chess Tournament from July 21—
Oct. 21, 2007 at PRR Dormitory 1.

>Organized the FIDE Rated 2010-2011 Palau National Chess Championship from
Nov. 14, 2010 to Feb. 13, 2011. Finished tied for 2nd and gained 13 rating points

>Organized the 2011 Rapid Chess Tournament at Palau Royal Resort on March 06,-
April 10, 2011.
>Organized the 2011 Rapid Chess Tournament exclusively for PRR employees only
on the same date March 06-April 10, 2011.
>Organized the FIDE Rated 2011 Palau National Chess Championship from June 26-
Sept. 25, 2011 at Palau Royal Resort and Beken’s Store and General Merchandise.
Seven FIDE rated Palau players participated and a total of 21 players joined the
biggest ever national chess championship. Finished as co-champion with Tito
Cabunagan and Cyril Tomas Montel, Jr. My FIDE rating is now 1889.
>Organized the 3rd Palau Invitational International Chess Championship held at
Palau Royal Resort from Dec. 14-19, 2011. Out of 9 invited players from Phil.,
Australia and Papua New Guinea, only one made it—Joselito Marcos of PNG.
>Organized the 3rd Paquito Suringa Cup together with Paquito Suringa from Oct. 23,
2011-March 11, 2012. This is exclusively for Palau Royal Resort employees only.
>Organized the 2012 Palau National Chess Championship and acted as Chief Arbiter. My
Deputies are fellow National Arbiters CM Bernardo Garcia and Dennis Gonzales.
>Organized the 2013 Palau Rapid Chess Championship in Feb. 2013 and was the champion by

- Participated in the simultaneous chess exhibition match of British Grandmaster Gawain Jones in June 23, 2009 at Gardiner Chess Center in Mudgeeraba, Queensland, Australia.
- Represented Palau together with teammate Tito Cabunagan, team captain Jamie Kenmure and Delegate Jan-Olav Berglund in 2010 World Chess Olympiad in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia.
- Represented Palau to the 2012 World Chess Olympiad in Istanbul, Turkey as Board 1 player, Board 2 is Elizabeth Manuel (wife of Menandro Manuel), Board 3 is Bernardo Garcia, who gained a CM title after scoring 3.5 points in his first 7 games. Board 4 is Menandro Manuel. Same team captain in Jamie Kenmure and same Delegate- Jan Berglund.
- Attended the FIDE Trainers Seminar conducted by FIDE C.E.O Geoffrey Borg in April 2014. Topped the seminar and gained FIDE Instructor (FI) Title. The other 6 got National Instructor (NI) titles and the rest (7) got Developmental Instructor (DI) titles.
- Participated in 2014 World Chess Olympiad in Tromso, Norway as Board 1 in Open Section. Board 2 is Cyril Tomas Montel, Jr., Board 3 is CM Bernardo Garcia while at Board 4 is Dennis Gonzales. Jeffrey Balbalosa is at Board 5/Reserve. First time also that Palau has women's team with WNM Angelica Parrado at Board 1, Baby Edna Mission at Board 2, Gladys Paloma at Board 3, 10-year-old Destiny Sisior at Board 4 (the youngest in the women's section) and at Board 5/Reserve is Joy Flores Whipps, wife of Eric Ksau Surangel Whipps, the newly elected President of Palau Chess Federation and acted as Team Captain of Women's Team. Jamie Kenmure is the Team Captain of Open Section for the 3rd straight time.
- Attended the FIDE Arbiters' Seminar on its 3rd day. Jamie Kenmure is one of the trainer together with Mr. Dirk, the lecturer from Belgium.
SEMINARS ATTENDED/PARTICIPATED IN OVERSEAS
- Japanese Language Class/Seminar for employees of Palau Royal Resort who are dealing/encountering/meeting/servicing with Japanese guests. The seminar is once a week conducted by Ms. Sanny Matsui. The class was attended by Palauans, Indonesians, Taiwanese, Filipinos and Chinese nationals. It started on February 06, 2008 and ended the second batch in November 2008.
- Mandarin Basic Language Class/Seminar for employees of Palau Royal Resort. The seminar is once a week and started in July 01, 2008 conducted by Ms. Michelle Liao. The class was attended by Palauans, Indonesians and Filipinos working at the hotel. It lasted 4 months.
- Japanese Language Class/Seminar for employees of PRR who are dealing/encountering/meeting/servicing with Japanese guests. The seminar is once a week conducted by Ms. Sanny Matsui. The class was attended by Palauans, Indonesians and Filipino nationals from January 20, 2010 to March 31, 2010.
- Attended the Chess in Schools meeting at Chess Academy building in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia during the 2010 World Chess Olympiad, Sept. 24, 2010.
- Attended also the Asian Continental Meeting on Sept. 28, 2010 (Russia) with Mr. Jan-Olav Berglund (Sweden), our Delegate in Germany and Russia Olympiad. I was able to vote for Chinese-Taipei to hold chess events for the first time.
OTHER SKILLS
- Speed typing using a manual or electronic typewriter at 48 words per minute with 82% accuracy.
- Bamboo flute lessons for adults and kids. The locally made bamboo flute is one of special instruments that I can produce.
- I can assemble a bamboo group of musicians using local bamboo and wood in making marimba, a percussion instrument to replace xylophone in the group.
- Chess coaching for beginners, intermediate and advance level.
