Palau Chess Federation will hold its last tournament of the year, the 2014 Palau National Chess Championship, on Oct. 19, 2014 (Opening Day) to Jan. 18, 2015 (Final round)

The top 12 (or 10) players of Palau will have a single round-robin format and the rest will have Swiss system with the time control of 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment and 75 minutes + 30 seconds increment respectively.

The top finishers of this event will have a chance to represent Palau in regional and international events in 2015 notably the Oceania Zonal Chess Championship in Sydney, Australia in July and 2015 Guam International Chess Tournament/Micronesian Open in February.
Registration fee is $10.00 for members and an additional $10.00 (membership fee) for non-members. Participants are requested to pay on or before Oct. 12 where the pairings through drawing of lots will be done.
Current Palau no. 1 chess player Jose Celiz left Palau for Fiji on Sept. 25. He will be replaced by former no. 1 for 5 years Menandro ‘Boy’ Manuel, who is back in Palau for a shorter contract.
This event will be stricter in implementing the use of Algebraic notation and will not allow the use of cell phones while games are in progress, even if the venue is still at Bethlehem Park.
Newcomer Felix Oling of Palau Royal Resort and Marcial Santander of (former Marina Hotel) showed interest in participating.

Number 11 and onwards to play via Swiss system – 11. Nilo de Jesus 12. Angie Parrado 13. Rafael Paloma 14. Remrel Dizon 15. Alfredo Pacenos, Jr. 16. Baby Edna Mission 17. Eugene Labarda 18. Ksau Anthony Whipps 19. Neph Macasaet 20. Mohammad Manik Hossain 21. Destiny Sisior 22. Manuel Mahor 23. Gladys Anne Paloma 25. Angelil Sisior 28. Cyrelle Ann Montel 29. Tutii Joe Chilton 30. Morton Sawaichi. There will be defaulting time of 30 minutes.
The cash prizes are as follows – Top 10 division  1st place - $175.00  2nd --$100.00  3rd- $75.00
