(615) PHOTOS (Week 9 -- 2013 Palau National Chess Championship)

Jose Celiz, left, stays unbeaten after drubbing Dennis Gonzales in the 9th week of 2013 PNCC and solidify his lead. He can only be tied by Bernard Garcia, left, even if he lose his game against the surging Rustum Cabuso. Eugene Labarda, Baby Edna Mission, Ronald Mission and Rafael Paloma watch the game. Paquito Suringa, Jr. is struggling in his first 5 games before getting a draw with Tito Cabunagan because the latter left Palau for vacation on Friday, Sept. 27. He lost to CM Bernardo Garcia in a special game on Thursday held at Palau Royal Resort Dormitory 1.                    (Photo by Roberto Hernandez)

Roberto Hernandez, left, played his 9th game vs. Rafael Paloma, who played his only 2nd game of the event. He lost to top seed Cyril Tomas Montel, Jr. in the first round and haven't play a game since. He lost to Roberto in 49 moves of Modern Defence, drew his 2nd game of the day with Paquito Suringa, Jr. and lost his 3rd game to Rustum Cabuso, who is a revelation in this tournament.  (Photo by Roberto Hernandez)

FATHER AND DAUGHTER LOST.
Juniors leader Destiny Sisior, left, trounced Cyrelle Ann Montel to keep the lead. Top seed Cyril Montel, Jr. meanwhile suffered another setback from the wily Eugenio Pastrana, who seems to be back from his usual unsportsmanlike conduct--by not writing his moves while he has the time to write those and ask Cyril if he can copy his score sheets.

A good example of writing their moves is demonstrated by Cyrelle Ann Montel, left, and Destiny Sisior in their crucial match on Sunday, Sept. 29. till the 54th move. Isn't it supposed to be the senior players must lead an example to the kids? What Pastrana did according to Cyril is unprofessional. He did is against Rustum also, who complain to Roberto about Pastrana's dirty tactics or laziness. Pastrana also refused to give Paquito Suringa, Jr. a rapid time control in their match because Paquito's available time is only 1 hour -- his dinner break.                                                             (Photo by Roberto Hernandez)

It's very nice to see 7 kids in some activities like this. Although the 2 boys in front (sons of Gladys Anne Paloma and Rafael Paloma) are not contestants of 2013 PNCC, their presence give 'spice' to the event.
The other kids are (L-R) Cyrelle Ann Montel, Kate Celiz, Destiny Sisior, Kyarii Sisior (hidden), and Angelil Sisior.                                                                           (Photo by Roberto Hernandez)
