Nedic (13-2-2) drew his crucial game against Cyril Montel, Jr. in 64 moves of Queen's Pawn Game and defeated Palauan bet Morton Sawaichi (5-10-0) by default to move half a point ahead of Montel, Jr. in the standings.
Menandro Manuel, who is still on vacation, dropped to 3rd spot with 13-4-0) win-loss-draw slate.
Montel, (12-1-3) also drew his game against Jess Toldoya (8-3-2) in 69 moves of Caro-Kahn Defence to stay in contention for the title and headed for his first title in 11 tournaments.
He could be the first National Master of Palau if he will win this tourney.
In the 2nd game of the day, 2nd seed Jose Omega drubbed Toldoya in 46 moves of Sicilian Defence to tie Toldoya at 5th spot.
Omega also won by default over Sawaichi and Dennis Gonzales in the resumption of their adjourned game as Gonzales failed to show up and didn't inform the organizers of his absence.
Fourth seed Roberto Hernandez (11-7-0) survived a queen sacrifice of Palau Chess Federation chairman Francis 'Sno' Temaungil (4-11-0) to prevail in 24 moves of Modern Defence.
The insufficient attack of Temaungil proved fatal as he ran out of choices and resources to force a win.
With his daring attitude towards the game, moving forward and improve his positional play will be the key to his progress.
Venue host Gene Pastrana (5-11-1) also won by default over Sawaichi, who was busy with his job as taxi driver.
This Sunday's schedule with be Toldoya again against 2 of these opponents (Nedic, Gonzales, Pastrana, Sawaichi and Hernandez).
His 2 games against Manuel will be played in any day that they are available after Manuel's return.
