Another separate invitation for Team
Captain Jamie Kenmure of Australia is not available while the 8th
member of the team, Mr. Jan-Olav Berglund is a few days late to be included as
Delegate. This will lessen the burden of Hernandez and he can now concentrate
on being Board 1 player of team Palau.
Consecutive
family tragedies had prevented Mr. Berglund to inform Hernandez of his intent
to join the Palau team. The same thing happened in 2010 World Chess Olympiad in
Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia when he surfaced after the team had registered its 6
participants.
Jamie
tried to register him as Delegate but he cannot log in anymore to the website.
Maybe because the final invitation has been sent and TCF is now getting ready
for the 2nd phase of the registration of team which is every member
of a team has to pay 100 euros as accommodation/transportation fee.
Mr.
Berglund said that it is essential that we manage to register the change no
later than the deadline June 10th because, if not, he’s pretty sure
that the organizers will say that we can no longer get the free room for the
Delegate. He tried to do it himself but because he doesn’t have the code for
Palau, he can’t get any closer to any registration.
If
Jamie can’t do it, he asked the permission of Hernandez to call his personal
friend Ali Nihat YAZICI, President of Turkish Chess Federation, and he will ask
him to see that it will be arranged. Hernandez permitted him to do so before
the deadline.
In
the 4th and final notice of invitation to join the 40th
World Chess Olympiad, 149 countries have already registered including Russia
which is among the 15 countries who registered before the deadline.
The
28 remaining unregistered countries are 1. Afghanistan 2. Angola 3. Bahamas 4.
Belize 5. Bosnia-Herzegovina 6. British Virgin Islands,7. Brunei Darussalam 8.
Burundi 9. Cambodia 10. Central African Republic 11. Colombia 12. Comoros
