INVITATION TO 2012 WORLD CHESS OLYMPIAD
The PRESIDENT of Turkish Chess Federation Ali Nihat YAZICI has sent an invitation to all World Chess Federation (FIDE) member chess federations to participate/attend in the 2012 World Chess Olympiad to be held in Istanbul, Turkey from August 27-September 10, 2012. The 83rd FIDE Congress will coincide with the event.

Dear Friends, Turkish Chess Federation, under the auspices of Sport and Youth Ministry and World Chess Federation, invites all member federations of FIDE to take place in the 40thWorld Chess Olympiad in Istanbul.
As an experienced organizing federation, the Turkish Chess Federation promises you a very good Olympiad and FIDE Congress with all necessary conditions.
The playing venue of Olympiad will be 9, 10, 11 Halls of Istanbul World Trade Center, on the exit of Ataturk Airport. The hotels will be WOW Hotels, Radisson Blu Airport, Holiday Inn Airport Hotel, Green Park Merter Hotel, Courtyard Marriott Hotel, Atakoy Marina Hotel, Adela Hotel, Titanic Airport Hotel, Polat Renaissance Hotel.
This invitation is also an official invitation for Congress participants to the 83rdFIDE Congress which will be held from 1st to 10thSeptember 2012 in the congress center of Polat Renaissance Hotel.

The training tournament for members of Palau Chess Team to Istanbul will start on Sunday, May 13. Paquito ‘Pax’ Suringa, Jr. confirmed his participation together with Menandro Manuel, Tito Cabunagan, Roberto Hernandez, Mohammad Manik Hossain, Bernard Garcia, Cyril Tomas Montel, Jr. and Rustom Cabuso, who joined the 2009-2010 Palau National Chess Championship but withdrew midway into the event.
The time control for this event is 90 minutes to make 40 moves, 30 more minutes to finish the game with 30 seconds increment starting from first move. Writing chess notation is mandatory. Registration fee is $10.00.
The venue is Beken’s Store with the possibility of another venue at Nayong Pilipino across Sea Passion Hotel. The sponsor is Rommel Baliwag of Pacific Car Rental (formerly National Car Rental). His pledged prize is one day SUV free rental for one day to the champion, sedan to 2nd place, $50.00 for 3rd and 4thplace finishers. Their tarpaulin will be displayed whenever there are games being played and Rommel and Pacific Car Rental will always be featured or mentioned in Chessmate column of Roberto Hernandez in Tia Belau newspaper.
