HOW WE SPEND 11 HOURS IN BANGKOK
After 3 1/2 hours trip from Manila to Bangkok, Thailand, the Palau Chess Team spent different styles of leisure to avoid boredom at the airport. Dennis Gonzales, 2nd from right, go out of the airport to meet a Filipino friend and strolled the city for about 5 hours. He missed the blitz chess practice with (L-R) CM Joselito Marcos, Roberto Hernandez, Jeff Balbalosa and Allan Alcid, right.

11-HOUR STOPOVER IN BANGKOK FOR
2016 BAKU OLYMPIAD'S
PALAU CHESS TEAM
In going to Bangkok, Thailand for an 11-hour stopover, the Palau Chess Team were treated by CM Joselito Marcos, the Head of Delegation, of free breakfast of their choice.
The generous Marcos also bought a headrest for him and Roberto. He has the same sleeping equipment in going back from 2010 World Chess Olympiad in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia with Roberto and Tito Cabunagan.
As they are going to find a place to rest for 11 hours, pictures were already taken even on the 'walking escalator'.
SHOT WERE ALSO TAKEN AROUND THE AIRPORT'S DUTY FREE SHOP.
BEFORE FINDING A PLACE TO REST/SLEEP, PALAU CHESS TEAM MEMBERS USED THE REST ROOM WITH ONE MEMBER TAKING A SHOT OF ALLAN ALCID PEEING.
WITH ONLY ONE CHESS SET AVAILABLE (FROM ROBERTO), A BLITZ CHESS CONTEST WAS HELD WITH CM JOSELITO MARCOS STAYS SEATED AS THE CONTEST HAS THE WINNER TO KEEP PLAYING UNTIL HE LOST AND WILL BE REPLACED BY THE NEW WINNER.
MARCOS, LEFT, WON MORE OR LESS 10 GAMES BEFORE BEING DEFEATED BY ROBERTO, RIGHT, AS HE SHOWS TIREDNESS.
AT LUNCHTIME IN A THAI FOOD COURT, JOSELITO PAID FOR ROBERTO AND PAQUITO'S BILL. TWELVE DAYS LATER, PAQUITO WAS ABLE TO PAY THE $10.00 LUNCH AFTER HE RECEIVED THE POCKET MONEY FROM ORGANIZERS OF BAKU 2016 WORLD CHESS OLYMPIAD.
ROBERTO PAID BACK HIS $10.00 LUNCH AT THAILAND FOOD COURT IN THE LAST DAY OF OLYMPIAD (SEPT. 14) BY BUYING BREAD, BANANAS, CHIPS, COOKIES, ETC. AS NO MORE LUNCH WERE SERVED ON THE LAST DAY.
AT DINNER TIME IN THAILAND, ROBERTO USED HIS BANK OF HAWAII CARD FOR SANDWICH AND FRESH LOCAL FRUITS (CANTALOUPE, PAPAYA, PINEAPPLE, DRAGON FRUIT) TWICE.
