NEXT CHESS TOURNEY --
2-MONTH PREPARATION FOR
1 DAY BLITZ CHESS FEST
ON SUNDAY, Feb. 01, Dennis Gonzales and Roberto Hernandez
are talking about the next tournament of Palau Chess Federation—the first for
the year 2015.
Dennis
suggested having a one-day blitz chess fest to start at 1pm on a Sunday up to
6pm where the awarding of trophies and cash prizes will be done all in the same
day.
It
will be a 9-round Swiss system and 5 minutes + 3 seconds increment time
control. The preparation will take 2 months so that all participants are aware
of reserving that Sunday afternoon for a very busy blitz chess event.
Dennis
is worried about Jeff Balbalosa, who is the in-charge of the pairings. Jeff
might prefer to skip this tourney to concentrate on the pairings, which is done
after the conclusion of every round. In Swiss system tournaments, there’s no
limit in the number of participants. The winners in the first round will face
the winners also of the 1st round; losers vs. losers, etc.
Jeff
might be very much familiar now with the Swiss system using the Swiss Perfect
software, which is being used in Australia. Because of this familiarity, he
might join the tourney. World Chess Federation (FIDE) is using Swiss Manager
software.
FIDE
ratings now are published in Standard, Rapid and Blitz every month. Unlike in
early 2000, the standard ratings were published only twice a year.
