UNDEFEATED BLITZ CHESS CHAMPION IN PALAU

MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT
ALL FIDE-affiliated chess federations are being invited to compete in the Florencio Campomanes Memorial Tournament scheduled on August 27 (Arrival) to Sept. 04, 2010 (Departure) at Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila, Philippines.
To avoid conflict with the Universiade chess championship starting on Sept. 05 in Zurich, the event was advanced by one day.
The Campomanes Memorial is the brainchild of FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, who conceived this idea during his visit to the Philippines last month.
The main objective is to honor the late Mr. Campomanes for his untiring and selfless efforts to develop and promote chess throughout Asia for more than 4 decades.
Many federations would not be what they are today had it not been for Campo's personal involvement to see to it that every Asian nation plays chess.
This year's event is the first of 10 editions promised and sporsored by Kirsan, who appointed Mr. Casto Abundo, Mr. Berik Balgabaev and Mr. Ignatius Leong as members of the Coordinating Committee for the Campo Memorial for 10 years.
Federations are encourage to send as many players as possible to participate in the first edition especially this being held in Manila with the subsequent 9 editions rotating in other Asian countries based on activity and ability of the federation to organize well for the event for the best offer as decided by the Standing Committee, and support by participating in other Campomanes Memorial editions.
The Campomanes Cup shall be awarded at the closing ceremonies of the 10th edition which will be held in his home country, Philippines.
At each opening ceremony, the FIDE flag shall be prominently displayed on stage along with the photo banner of Campomanes.
The FIDE anthem shall be played as well. Some friends of Campomanes shall be invited to the opening ceremonies to deliver eulogies.
Featuring highlights of the Campomanes period, a documentary video of Campomanes shall be shown, a photo exhibit shall be displayed and a souvenir program shall be published.
A video should be produced of each edition of the Campomanes Memorial.
Entry fees shall go to the Florencio Campomanes Chess Development Fund to be administered by the Standing Committee.
These basic regulations apply to all editons of the Campomanes Memorial Series.
The schedule is as follows: Aug. 27 --Arrival; Aug. 28 -- Players meeting at 11:00; Opening Ceremony at 15:00; Round 1 at 16:00; Aug. 29 -- Round 2 at 16:00; Aug. 30 -- Round 3 at 9:00 and Rd. 4 at 16:00; Aug. 31 -- Rd. 5 at 9:00 and Rd. 6 at 16:00; Sept. 1-- Rd. 7 at 16:00; Sept 2--Rd. 8 at 16:00; Sept. 3--Rd. 9 at 9:00 and Closing Ceremony at 16:00; Sept. 4--Departure.
Default time shall be one hour after starting time.
There shall be 3 events, an Open for players rated 2200 up, a Women's event, and a Challengers event for players rated below 2200 in the July 01 FIDE Rating List.
Entry shall be submitted on or before July 31, 2010 together with payment of the entry fees. Late entries will be accepted till 23 August, 2010 with a late fee of US$50.
Free entry for GMs, International Masters (IMs), Woman Grandmasters (WGMs) and Woman International Masters (WIMs).
Other entry fees are as follows: 2500-2549 Rating ($50), 2450-2499 ($75), 2400-2449 ($100), 2350-2399 ($125), 2300-2349 ($150), 2225-2299 ($175) Below 2250 ($200).
In the Challengers Tournament, entry fee is $50. Entries are not confirmed unless Registration and Entry fees are received by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines before the deadline.
A digital ID photo of each player should be sent by email to the Organizing Committee for an ID card.
Foreigners may inquire with the Organizing Committee for the half board hotel accomodation.
Invited GMs rated 2550 and up shall be provided board and lodging in 3-star hotels on a twin sharing basis. Players should stay at official hotels.
The tournament shall be conducted as a Swiss System competition of 9 rounds and will be played according to FIDE regulations.
The time control is 90 minutes for the whole game with the addition of 30 seconds per move starting from move one. Draw offers below 30 moves shall not be allowed. Pairings will be made by Swiss Manager.
The cash prizes are sponsored by His Excellency , FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov. It will be awarded in full, net and free of taxes as follows: Open --$10,000, 9,000, 8,000, 7,000, 6,000, 5,000 4,000, 3,000, 2,000, 1,500 to the top 10 respectively.
The 11th and 12th place will get $1,000 each. $900, $800, $700, $600 will go to 13th to 16th place respectively.
From 17th - 35th place, they will get $500 each for a total of $70,000.
In the Women's division, $5,000, $4,000, $3,000, $2,000 $1,000 to the top 5 finishers respectively.
The 6th to 15th places will receive $900-$100 respectively for a total of $20,000.
The Challengers division will have $3,000, $2,000, $1,000 for the top 3 finishers respectively. The 4th-11th will get $800-$100 respectively.
A special Top Senior will receive $400 for a total of $10,000 and a grand total of $100,000.
Cash prizes will be share equally among tied players. Players not present at the Opening Ceremony shall be fined 5% of their prize. The champions should be present at the closing ceremony. Players not present at the closing ceremony shall be fined 5% from their prize.
Entry visa will be issued by the Philippine consulates in the respective countries. Participants from countries which do not have Philippine consulates may contact the NCFP for assistance at least 45 days in advance.
All payments due on account of registration must be paid in advance with proof thereof (bank transfer certificates) must be sent along with the registration forms. Only players who have paid before the Players Meeting shall be paired for Round 1.
