FOLLOW CORRECT CHORDS

I noticed that he is following the correct chords of all the songs that we are playing like "Sing, Sing, Sing" with its E augmented (Eaug) chord and the right sequence of chords in the song 
"I Worship You" ---E--A--E----A--E----C#m--(F#m)--B----(G#m)--(F#m-F#)--B...(REFRAIN) E--C#m--(F#m)--B7--(G#m)--C#m--(F#m)--B--E.
     The chords in parenthesis are the ones that were missed by Bro. Rolly Adducul when we are playing those 2 songs.
     Lately, before the start of Sunday service 3 weeks ago, I taught him the correct sequence even though it took us 30 minutes to do it 80% correct.

Bro. Rolly Adducul, sitting at right, don't know how to read or recognize a chord if it is said to him to play. That's why he is at lost when I mentioned him the chords like C#m, G#m, Bm, CM7, Dm, etc.

Through patience, he is now recognizing a chord when mention to him. 

New member of the band, Bro. Rodrigo, 2nd from left at the back, plays the bass and lead guitar left handed! But he also follows the right chords and has good ears for correct chords and timing. Even the sustain, diminish, augmented, major 7th, minor 7th, 6th, 9th are not a problem for him to play.

When we practiced for the 13th Anniversary of PMCC Palau Locale, we didn't let Bro. Rolly to play with us during the live performance at Felix Yaoch Gym because he didn't practice with us.


Three years ago in December, Bro. Rudy Dulatre will have a special number to sing "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" by The Jackson 5. It's not an ordinary song in as far as chords are concerned. But Bro. Rolly is confident that it is an easy song chord wise. I can't play it correctly if I am not looking at the chords of that song so I have my Christmas songs songbook in front of me to play the right chords of the song. Bro. Rolly don't have an idea about the complication/speed of the transfer of these chords:  C-G7-C-Am-Em-Am-C--G7--Gdim-G7-G7sus-C-Cdim-C--D7-G-D7-G7-Fm-G7......G7sus-C-G7-C-Am-Em-Am--C-CM7-C7-F-A7-Dm--F-B7-C-A7-Dm7-G7-C-F-Fm-G7-C--(Cdim-Dm7-G7) Repeat all except last 3 chords (in parenthesis)... Coda: F-B7-C-A7-Dm7-G7-C-F-Fm-G7-C-Dm7-C6.

I am sure that of 104 chords in that song, Bro. Rolly missed 100 of those complicated chords especially the 7th, diminish, minor 7th and sustain 7th.

That's why Bro. Rudy is very disappointed with the way Bro. Rolly played it.


When Sis. Luz Palma has a special number to sing, she talked to Bro. Rolly that she will sing "May Bukas Pa" (There Will Still be Tomorrow) not knowing that Bro. Rolly knows only that song in key of D, which is key for male singer. When she sings it, it too high for her. It she will sing it in low key, it will be too low for her. If she talked to me beforehand that she will sing it, I should have been transpose it to key of A (lady's pitch).

If I am singing a lady song, I used to transpose the key 2 or 3 steps higher. If it is a guy's song and high key, I will lower it by 4 or 5 step to get my correct key.

This is what I always advise to people who thought that a certain song is high for him/her. My response is always the same: "THERE IS NO SONG HIGHER TO ANYBODY AS LONG AS YOU'LL FIND YOUR RIGHT KEY."

(1354) MUSIC AND ME (Jan. 26, 2017) GUITAR AND CHESS SET DONATION TO FISHERMEN

The brethren of Pentecostal Missionary Church of Christ (4th Watch) Palau Locale has donated a lot of things to the Filipino fishermen caught fishing illegally on Palau waters since November 2016.

But the most important donation that they do is spreading to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Every Sunday afternoon, they are doing their service there on board of the big boat where 5 crews were apprehended earlier and a month later, a smaller boat but with 18 crews.

An accoustic guitar was donated to them in December while I donated a tournament size chess board in 2nd week of January 2017. The captain and engineer of the big boat, 3rd from right in this photo, can play chess really good.

I played with him one Sunday afternoon while waiting for the brethren and he held his ground till the start of the Sunday service.

All of them were baptized with the 11 being baptized on Christmas day 2016. I told them that I was baptized also on Christmas 2005 so it's easy to remember the day of the salvation of our souls.

(1290) ALLAN ALCID--AILEEN PALOMINO WEDDING ON NOV. 13, 2016

DURING THE early rounds of 2016 Palau National Chess Championship qualifying tourney, my teammate in 2016 Baku, Azerbaijan World Chess Olympiad Allan Alcid is asking me to be one of the godfathers on his wedding day to be held on Oct. 29 or Oct. 30 depending on the schedule of the minister from Guam who will wed them.

Without hesitation, I agree and he told me how lonely it is to be alone for a long 15 years since he lost his wife. His children are all grown-up now and doesn't care if he will marry again. He added that when he's sick, he's all by himself and he really needs companionship.

Two weeks ago, he notified me that the 5 pairs of godparents are already complete so I will just attend the reception at Korean Restaurant at Neco Plaza building with my wife.

On the final day of 2016 Qualifying tourney to select the No. 8, 9, and 10 players for the Top 10 Division of 2016 PNCC, he
told me that his brother will have a hard time to come to Palau from Malaysia so I will do the honor of being beside me (like a father) when the bride is walking on the isle.

Then he played his game with 3rd seed Tito Cabunagan while the final round of 2016 Qualifying tourney is on its final stage: Manuel 'Jun' Mahor, Jr. clinches the 8th spot, Gonzalo 'Jojo' Escapatoria, Jr. is 9th and Rustum Cabuso is 10th as all 3 of them scored 3.5 each.

After awarding the medals, I have to leave to have dinner at Palau Royal Resort and teach Angel Bernales Magno piano and guitar from 6-8pm before proceeding to attend the Evangelistic Night of Pentecostal Missionary Church of Christ (4th Watch) Palau Locale. The brethren who pledged for the construction of the 10-storey Shiloah Building were given certificate of appreciation -- Bro. Jefferson Taoingan, me, Sis. Berlin Dulatre and Bro. Rolly Adducul.  

(1156) MUSIC AND ME (Jan. 14, 2016) PMCC NEW YEAR'S DAY LUNCH AT JAPAN-PALAU FRIENDSHIP BRIDGE

After the New Year's Day service at Pentecostal Missionary Church of Christ (4th Watch) Palau Locale at 10am, the attendees decided to hold lunch at the Koror side of Japan-Palau Friendship Bridge (formerly known as KB Bridge (Koror-Babeldaob Bridge). Roberto Hernandez, left, asked Jeffrey Taoingan, right, to buy ice cream as treat for it's Roberto's 60th birthday the next day (Jan. 02, 2016).

Roberto brought also half of the 13 round fruits that he is collecting every New Year's Eve (for luck). Some brethren brought spaghetti, sweets, rice, chips, ripe mangoes, salad and marinated chicken to be barbecued.

Bro. Ronald of Palau Pacific Resort, left, went with Roberto and Bro. Rolly Adducul in Roberto's car. They went to the Airai side of the bridge when they saw nobody among the brethren and later come back to the Koror side when they saw them about 100 meters away from the other side.

Because of fear that it's not allowed to do barbecue in the place (unfinished bai), the brethren had lunch without the marinated chicken barbecue. But it's more than enough for everybody.

Bro. Louie Edillo and Sis. Malou Paster, who is having ice cream early because it is starting to melt as we don't have cooler to store the ice cream. Bro.Louie and Bro. Rudy Dulatre alternately play Christian songs in their tablet/cell phones that makes the brethren more familiar with the melody and timing of the songs. Many brethren (Sis. Berlin, Bro. Rey Palma, Bro. Ronald, etc. have problem with timing with church songs.

Serve yourselves! Ripe mangoes and other fruits are the first ones to be consumed.

There are people swimming at the other part of the JPFB mostly children while the other still unfinished bai is seen for more convenience to visitors (locals or tourists).
