YOUNG RUSSIAN LADY ASK ME

 IF SHE CAN PLAY THE KEYBOARD

ON March 20, 2018, while playing keyboard instrumental music at Breeze Bar of Palau Royal Resort, a young and beautiful Russian lady approached me and ask if she can play the keyboard for a song or two. 

I stand up and let her sit after setting up the keyboard to piano and pointed to her that the sustain pedal is under the keyboard stand.

While she is playing some classical music, I took some photos of her and move farther to take a shot also of her family. One of them is taking a video of her.

The guy also took some photos of her while the other older lady is surfing the internet. Palau has got super fast internet now since the installation of fiber optic cable in Dec. 07, 2017, where the President of Palau Chess Federation Eric Ksau Surangel Whipps is one of the Directors of Belau Submarine Cable Corporation.

At present now, the 2 competing internet provider are trying to outdo each other with cheaper rates like "Data" from Palau National Communication Corporation (PNCC) for $2.00, you can have 500MB and free 100 text message within 2 days.

The other one PTWavefi, by former Senator Sam Masang, countered with $3.00 unlimited use of internet for 2 days. They offer also a 15-hour internet card for $7.00. Their PTHotspot that offered $9.00 for 20 hours has been stopped.

            17 hours to fix Jemima Finnegan’s Piano

 Jemima Finnigan asked me to tune her piano in June 2017. She said that piano is more than 40 years old. I didn't know that she can play piano already by notes using the Seventh Day Adventist Hymnal song book.

 After tuning the piano for more than 2 hours, I noticed many defective keys that don't make a sound. We set another date for fixing it.

 Just like a car, I took the main part of the piano that can't be fixed if it is attach to the piano. I discovered a lot of things about piano mechanism because of this. It's like putting down the whole engine of the car.

During the meticulous fixing of the piano, I accidentally broke a part of the piano and fixed it with glue. But the glue is not Crazy glue that dries very fast so I use a duct tape to hold it till the glue dries.

Jemima is very furious because of that accident. I just told her that when I take a vacation to Philippines, I will go the piano factory and ask for that piece which I took some photos for referral.

I was paid $100.00 for tuning the piano the first time. I said to Jemima that if I will tune it again within 6 months, it's half the price.

For fixing the piano for 7 hours, Jemima paid me per hour as I teach her --$15.00/hour.

There's a long story for fixing her piano for another 10 and a half hours. I started at 8 am after sleeping with my wife Flor at Dragon Tei's staff house. We have an agreement to pick her up at 11 am to send money to his sister and our daughter Karen.

It's already 11 am and I'm not even half way of fixing the meticulous parts of the piano. I message her that we will do it at 12:00 noon. I didn't check the cell phone that it's not being sent because there is a note from Palau National Telecommunications Corporation that there will be an outage in using the cell phone that day.

Jemima prepared me a nutritious sandwich lunch and we resumed fixing it. She helped me in the part where there are snapped cloth strings using her sewing kit! It works and she joked about us being partners in fixing pianos all over Palau.

     The Palau National Communications Corporation (PNCC) issues Airtime cards of different denominations for easy and cheap access to internet and long distance call.

WRONG SEND BY A PALAUAN GUY

On Sept. 23, 2015, while inside my room with 3 other co-employees of Palau Royal Resort, I received a $4.00 "pasa load" or passed internet load from someone I don't know.

It becomes convenient now having this system that you can give a member of your family or friends this amount (from $1.00 - whatever amount you still have on your load.

You just dial *670*(the local number like mine 778-5392)*the amount in 100 for $1.00 and so on and finally, press the # and send.   *670*7785392*100# then send and presto, you have given your family member or friend internet load.

After giving me $4.00 load, a Palauan guy called me and speak to me in Palauan language. I said to him, "Sorry, I don't speak Palauan."

What surprise me is he keeps on talking in Palauan and his last words are "f...   you".  

I think he's very sure that he gave the load to someone he knows. And very frustrated that he sent it to the wrong person, that's why he has said those words.

Minutes later, he text me with this "PLS CAN U SEND BCK MY AIRTIME WRNG SEND"

I refer this incident to my room mate Allan Malonzo, whom I took a photo of him while having his birthday cake at PRR Lounge...

 
Allan's reply is not to send back the $4.00 because he's the one who makes the mistake and he uttered bad words to me.

But it's not my way of life to avenge what he has done to me. I returned the $4.00 after 31 minutes because I have to look at the "code" that my wife has given me on how to pass load.

He said a little thank you word -- "thanks."

I mentioned this incident also to Ella Asuncion, the secretary of PRR GM Masayuki Kawaguchi and she has the same intention to do as Allan's.

                                 Ella Asuncion, 7^th from left, GM Kawaguchi, left, secretary, celebrated her birthday on July 20^th with Palau Royal Resort staff. Two weeks ago, Ella showed interest to be with Palau Chess Team in the 2018 World Chess Olympiad in Batumi, Georgia. Likewise, Elizalde Madrinan, Japanese Chef, is also targeting a slot at the Open section of 2018 WCO. GOOD LUCK and GANBATTE MASU!
