JAPANESE FAMILY and

Palauan Birthday Celebrant

This Japanese family enjoyed the food and music at the Waves Restaurant of Palau Royal Resort and proceed at the Breeze Bar and enjoyed more Japanese and international music with me for another 2 hours. The lady at left gave me an additional $20.00 tip after I've got $40.00 from them at Waves Restaurant. Their mom, enjoyed also the music and I made her cry with my rendition of old Japanese and American songs. She hugged me tightly when these photos were taken.

In July 25, 2018, while I was playing piano at Waves Restaurant of Palau Royal Resort, I didn't know that the family at the right hand corner of the restaurant are Japanese. Then, a Japanese girl is watching me play. To test her nationality, I played the Sukiyaki song and she sings with me to the lyrics to the amazement of her father. Only then that I realized that they are Japanese. I gave the girl my card and she showed it to her family members. I can see some of them take a very good look at the card because it has my name written in Russian, English and Japanese.

I told this Japanese family that I've been to Japan in April 04-Sept. 28, 1982 in Hayashida Hotel at Kagoshima City. Because of strong internet connection now in Palau since Dec. 7, 2017, they were able to search the Hayashida Hotel and found out that it's not existing anymore. They also search the song "Anak" by Freddie Aguilar, whom I said to them that he always sing the original version of "Anak" wherever he goes as the original is always the best. I mentioned to them that it was recorded in many languages like Japanese, Italian, English, Korean, etc. They search again the "Anak" and learned the meaning of its lyrics in Japanese. They requested me to sing it in Tagalog and I sang it with expression that made their mother cry.

A boy from the Japanese family looked at my Japanese song book and he requested "Roppongi Rarabai" and I asked him if he can sing it. And he did! It's my first time to hear a Japanese singing that song. The chorus of the song is so good that I can play with expression on that part.

There is a Palauan birthday celebrant close to their table and the staff sang Happy Birthday To You song with me playing the piano enthusiastically and at the end of that song, I played the upbeat Japanese song "Chako No Kaigan Monogatari".

Later, a Palauan guy gave me $10.00 tips all in 1 dollar bill.

(1333) MUSIC AND ME (Nov. 24, 2016) THE GOOD THINGS OF KNOWING GUESTS' NAMES

Remembering their long Japanese names is possible only for me if I will write it as what I did to these 2 young Japanese. They have a good time with my music and we have this photo session. I don't like them to be the same as those other guests that I know only by face so I get a piece of paper and ask for their names. It's the best solution for my forgetful attitude, one of a trait that growing old person has to cope with.                         (Photo by Roberto Hernandez)



               THE GOOD THINGS OF 
           KNOWING GUESTS' NAMES

AFTER playing 2 hours of piano instrumental music at Waves Restaurant of Palau Royal Resort in October 13, 2015, I proceed to Breeze Bar for another 2 hours of instrumental keyboard music.

The place becomes a little busy with Japanese and Taiwanese guests. Later, a couple of Japanese guys sit near the keyboard and they requested a combination of Japanese and American songs.

They have a good time and I asked one staff of the Breeze Bar to take a photo of us. The Miller Lite beer at the background is very visible.

After some more singing and talking, I ask for their names so that I can feature them sometime in my Music and Me posts at http://palau-chess.blogspot.com after I gave them my card.

In order not to forget their names, I wrote it on a small piece of paper and put it in my wallet. 

I didn't expect that I would see them again 2 days later. They have 2 lady visitors with them.

After setting the keyboard, I look at that small piece of paper where I wrote their names and memorize it. Then I go to their table and say, "How are you Motoki san?, How are you, Yoji san?"

The 2 ladies were surprised that I mentioned their names correctly. They are thinking that maybe these two have been here at Breeze Bar many times that the musician knows their names.

THAT'S ONE OF THE ADVANTAGE OF KNOWING GUESTS' NAMES.

THE SWEETEST SOUND TO A PERSON IS HEARING PEOPLE CALLING THEM BY NAMES.

   These 2 Japanese ladies have the same name -- Mitsui. The one at right is Nagisa Mitsui while the other in the middle is not known to me yet, her first or family name.  (Photo by Roberto Hernandez)


    TWO JAPANESE LADIES WITH
      THE SAME NAME -- MITSUI

Nagisa Mitsui has been to Breeze Bar, of Palau Royal Resort some years ago. She remembers me playing keyboard there.

She came back to Palau again with a friend that's the same name as hers on Sept. 28, 2016. We have photo session with the other Mitsui taking a video of me playing the requested song of Nagisa, "Chako No Kaigan Monogatari".

I gave them my card and told them that I will be playing for another 2 hours at Breeze Bar from 9-11pm using a keyboard.

At 9pm, I proceed to Breeze Bar for another 2 hours of keyboard music.

There were not much guests there so I was able to upload the photo with the Mitsuis.

Before they came, a young Taiwanese couple is enjoying my assorted international songs with the guy often requesting some Taiwanese songs.

Then the Mitsuis came. After finishing the song that I'm playing, I go to them and showed the uploaded photo of us at Waves Restaurant.

Nagisa is asking for my Facebook account. To get it faster, she took a video of the images of my cellphone, used my cellphone to get her Facebook account and added herself to my friends at FB. The other Mitsui did the same.

Nagisa gave me her card and a short letter asking for my FB account so that we can continue communicating through that.

 

   

 The other Mitsui asked me if I like Japanese snack food and of course I will say yes. And she gave me a bag of Japanese snack food which I thought were noodles, etc.

I put the bag of snack food on the table where I put the bag of my song books and resume entertaining the young Taiwanese couple. The guy is generous enough to give me $10.00 tip.
