MOCK DRAW WAS APPROVED
AS THE COMPOSITION
OF 7 TEAMS
Tito and Rustum didn't make it but Jeff came and Jun Mahor, who just came from a 2-month long vacation. So did Jojo Escapatoria, who skip his Sunday job just to be with the meeting. He is also excited about the first ever team tournament in Palau.
A plan blitz chess tilt was organized between 8 players: (According to how they paid the $1.00 registration fee) 1. Jeff 2. Angelo 3. Jun 4. Bobot 5. Roberto 6. Jojo 7. Dennis and 8. Cyril.
The first round fits No. 1 vs. No.8; No. 2 vs. 7; 3 vs. 6 and 4 vs. 5 (me and Bobot)
Photos were taken with Dennis taking the photos of the first round. I won a rook over Bobot but missed a continuous checking of his king for a force mate and was mated instead. It's been a long time since Bobot was defeated.
Jeff lost to Cyril; Angelo nips Dennis; Jun lost to Jojo.
In the 2nd round, it's whoever is available to play-- here, Bobot scored another over Dennis.
In the only drawn game of the tilt, Jun and Cyril agreed to a draw.
Cyril suffered another loss to Jeff.
Nobody is available to take a photo of my game with Jojo so we took a selfie.
Before playing Jojo, I took photos of games between Bobot and Angelo (1-0); Jeff scored another win over Jun; I defeated Jojo; and Cyril lost another one to Dennis.
While Cyril and Dennis are still playing, me and Jun played our game and I won.
My other loss is to Jeff; Cyril lost his match against Bobot
Angelo, right, nips Jojo for a good start.
Dennis succumbed to Jun.
Jojo is another victim of Bobot
The last game of the day is between Angelo and Cyril, who is ahead in material but in big trouble with his time at 6 seconds. Eventually, even with 3 seconds increment, it's not enough unlike my game with Angelo, that my 8 seconds remains the same as I move faster seeing that he's got more than 2 minutes to my 8 seconds. Until what is left to Angelo is king and I have a rook, which is enough to force mate.
I am watching Cyril and Angelo's game because if Angelo wins, we will be tied at 2nd place although I am sure that I will beat him in tiebreak as winner over the other (Direct Encounter) favors me.
Before leaving, Angelo jokingly said, "Is there a prize for 2nd and 3rd, at least a dollar?" I said, ok, we'll have a dollar each and 6 dollars for Bobot, if it's okay with him. Bobot said, no problem and we got our dollar.
SO, THE CYRIL TEAM IS FINAL---- Jeff, Jennifer, and Aome
ROBERTO TEAM --Glen Navarroza, Angelil Sisior and Nicholas Nehez
TITO TEAM -- Jojo, Destiny and Kyarii Sisior
DENNIS TEAM -- Wilson Barrameda (who left Palau for good). Dennis wants to replace him with Gabriell Garcia, if he's already back from vacation. The other 2 are Joan and Rommel.
RUSTUM TEAM --Jun, Angelica Magno, Michael Gulla.
ANGELO TEAM -- Paquito Suringa, Jr., Angie Parrado and Ksau Anthony Whipps (If he is not available, Gian Paloma is the replacement)
BOBOT TEAM -- Leif (on a 1-month vacation), can be replaced by Mohammad Manik Hossain. He needs to be with the team for at least 6 Sundays as he is a member of Palau Open Team to 2018 World Chess Olympiad in Batumi, Georgia. This team tournament is for the preparation of Palau Chess team to this Olympiad, using the Olympiad time control and set-up.
An extra member will be allowed to a team with this condition: he/she must be a Palauan chess player not listed and no rating yet at FIDE rating list. I will add to my team Morton Sawaichi, who has been inactive for 13 years and not yet listed at FIDE rating list. There is a very short list of Palauan chess players that are not yet listed and no rating yet at FIDE rating list like Reece Reklai, Lancy Lazarus, Carlos Manuel, Blossom Richard, Jaymee Remoket, Kazumi Chibana, Lincoln Kikuo and J-Lyn Singeo to name a few. They are from the PMA Chess in Schools standouts, and they are encourage to join and they don’t need to pay registration fee.
Some standouts also from the second batch of PMA Chess in School like Secheriang Senior, Ethan Naruo, Himari Tono and Alfons Roberto.
If at least six of them will join, I don't need to give Morton to Dennis as he will not be available in all 6 Sundays of the tournament.
