PENULTIMATE ROUND OF 2017
PALAU NATIONAL CHESS
CHAMPIONSHIP
(Bethlehem Park - Dec. 10, 2017)

Dennis Gonzales, right, improves his chance to make it to 2018 World Chess Olympiad in Batumi, Georgia when he clobbered Leif Toribiong, left, in the penultimate round of 2017 Palau National Chess Championship. In the middle is Angelo Salvadora, who will face top seed and defending champ Cyril Tomas Montel, Jr. in the final round. A win or a draw is all he needs to make it. Dennis needs to win his last 2 games (vs. Cyril and Jeff Balbalosa) to be his only chance--nothing less.
