(1419) PHOTOS -- ROUND 2 OF 2017 PNCC QUALIFYING (Sept. 10, 2017)

First game of 2n round -- Gonzalo Escapatoria, Jr., left,  vs. Neph Macasaet, with Angie Parrado watching in the middle. Dennis Gonzales and 2017 PRCC champ Bobot Tan are playing blitz chess while waiting for their opponents.

2ND ROUND OF 2017 PNCC QUALIFYING ROUND....At table 1, Angel Salvador easily whips Angie Sisior; the Manuel Mahor vs. Dennis R Gonzalesmatch lasted till 5:45 when Dennis missed the easiest way to mate Jun but prevailed after a marathon 83 moves;

 Neph Macasaet's preparation against Gonzalo Escapatoria is not enough as he lost in a cramped position; Leif Toribiong gave Bobot Tan a scare when he won a piece (rook) in the middle game. But he missed some strong moves and Bobot was able to recover and won instead;

 Jennifer Tubtub Angeles missed the winning queen move and lost instead to Bheng Codinera Mendoza, who was injured playing badminton (torn Achilles tendon) and played with 2 crutches beside her. Wilson Barrameda had a bye. THUS, JOJO, ANGELO AND DENNIS ARE THE 3 REMAINING UNDEFEATED PLAYERS. ROUND 3 PAIRINGS: Dennis vs. Angelo; Bobot vs. Jojo; Neph vs. Angie; Wilson vs. Jun; Bheng vs. Leif and Jennifer had a bye.

CM Joselito Marcos suggested to have chairs for those players standing in this long time control. I've asked Jeff Balbalosa about the chairs that PCF has bought for this occasion. He said it is at the
 former venue of 2017 FIDE Arbiters' Seminar.
