Solution
to last week’s special 13th anniversary puzzle: 1. c8=B (Black
Bishop)! Yes. Before 1988, you can promote a pawn to any piece of your
opponent’s color. With this move, Black can’t stop the 2. Nc7 mate. The second
solution is 1. c8=K (Black king). As what happened 3 years ago, nobody solved
this puzzle.
This week's puzzle No. 802: White to move and mates in 3 (Solution next issue)
