In the penultimate round of the Class A championshi, 2nd seed Cyril Montel, Jr. dealt top seed Roberto Hernandez his 3rd straight loss with a win in a tightly contested and time pressured Sicilian Defence game.
He has only 3 minutes left on his clock to make 8 moves and Hernandez, with only 12 minutes left, missed a draw line on the 35th move and blundered away a rook to lose in 49 moves.
Current leader Edgardo Enarsao kept the lead with a 6-1 slate even though his opponent, Bong Alipoon didn't show up.

It defeated Class A's Jimmy Valenzuela and Mariano Agustin, Jr., Class B's Ben Ramos with a Ruy Lopez (Open Defence). And kid's leader Jayrome Soriano and Ricky Camacho.
In the Class B championship, it's a 3-way fight for the title between erstwhile leader Jon Lagumen, current leader Jose Omega and Mike Miguel, Jr.
Their chances of being the champion will depend on the outcome of their games against one player... Amante Caballero, who don't have a day off since July.
Omega will play him on the phone while Lagumen and Miguel, Jr. will have to set a nighttime match whenever they are available.
